A closing surprise...intriguing fact, quotation, or discovery from my own research
“A man in Texas was celebrating the arrival of 1997 by shooting off his pistol outside his house on New Years Eve. When the gun jammed, he went inside to fix it. As he was trying to remove the bullet, the gun went off and shot his 7 year old daughter in the chest. ‘Daddy, I’m okay.’ she said. Then she died in his arms.” Seventy percent of people killed by handguns are killed by people they know. Although gun control will not stop all gun-related deaths, it will help reduce the incredibly large number of people dying from this horrible cause. Accidental shootings will not happen if there is no gun, and school shootings will decline if teenagers can not get guns as easy as they can now. Gun control will take guns out of the wrong hands and keep tragic accidents like this from happening.
